Michelle graduated from Wright State University with a degree in English and an emphasis in Technical Writing and Theatre. She entered the industry as a technical editor for aerospace documentation. She honed her editing skills and moved into more diverse areas of industry, consulting within training and documentation for consumer products, pharmaceuticals, software, SAP, science, and manufacturing.
Michelle has also spent a fair amount of time studying e-learning and Web 2.0. Michelle's experience led to presenting at several conferences, including Elliot Masie's Learning 2007 (Blog Yes!: Using Your Blog for Internal Marketing) and several sessions at ASTD's TechKnowledge 2008 and 2009. In April of 2003, Michelle was certified as a PMMI Certified Trainer through the Packaging Machinery Manufacturer's Institute, the standard in packaging documentation and training.
In October 2003, Michelle decided to leave her job as an instructional designer in a manufacturing firm to start Write Technology. She recently served as Vice President of Technology for the Greater Cincinnati ASTD. Michelle also functions as Technology/PR chair for the Krystal Pepper Memorial Scholarship.
Michelle maintains four weblogs, including an award-winning blog on wine as well as her industry-related blog, and is over-connected in social media. Michelle is also a contributing writer for Brian Solis's Bub.blicio.us social economy blog.
